Overview
FT Strategies is looking for an experienced and motivated data analyst to support a project delivering content analytics to seven local news publishers based in the UK. This is a fixed term seven-month contract with the option of fully remote working.
Purpose:
- To provide data analysis and support to a cohort of local and regional news publishers based on performance of editorial content
- Continually looking for ways to help to improve performance of editorial content to reach digital audience
- Helping to build digital audiences around content
- Liaising with publishers in sharing best practice across the group
- Providing performance metrics
Responsibilities:
- Set up regular weekly meetings with each of the seven publishing teams to review performance of content against benchmarked metrics
- Provide analysis of the data and reports on how content types are performing
- Identify good performing content and content that is not attracting the right audience
- Help journalists to understand what content is working, what is not and where to find content to build their audiences
- Liaise with publishers about what content they want to track to increase brand lover targets
- Adapt and update (as necessary ) the reporting dashboard recording performance of content that can be tracked over time
- Work with publishers to assist them in identifying and tagging appropriate content
- Sharing best practice and identified trends that could apply across the whole of the group
- Help publishers to monitor their website activity against traffic forecasts and targets
- Help to identify key growth areas
- Attend required meetings with publishers to discuss results and content planning
- Help to create dynamic content plans around data results and amending them regularly
Reporting Lines:
- You will be reporting into the Project Managers for the duration of the programme which ends at the end of September 2023
- You will also have dotted reporting lines into the individual publishers

Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of Google Analytics. Some knowledge of Google Data Studio and GA4 is preferable
- Knowledge of other data analysis software eg Adobe (desirable)
- Ability to interpret data and how it applies to editorial content
- Understanding of key reporting metrics to improve reader engagement on site
- Ability to create reporting dashboards
Targets:
- To create a reporting dashboard for each publisher and a combined dashboard for the programme
- Increasing number of Brand Lovers coming to the sites
- Increasing engagement with readers
