Research Scientist

This a remote position open to candidates in GMT +1 time zone (+/- one hour)

RetinAI’s Research team is the driving force behind our innovative AI algorithms that are changing the way medical imaging data is analyzed and managed. As a Research Scientist at RetinAI you’ll have the chance to take a leading role in the development and deployment of our machine learning technology. In collaboration with our small but talented team, you’ll take full ownership of developing new methods, algorithms and techniques from conception to implementation, paving the way to building transformative products in the healthcare of tomorrow.

You will:

  • Take ownership of solving cutting-edge scientific and technical challenges in the field of machine learning applied to medical imaging and data analysis
  • Develop RetinAI’s core machine learning & image processing algorithms through the full project lifecycle:
    • Conduct research and create project plans
    • Develop and evaluate algorithms
    • Assess test data
    • Publish papers based on research results
    • Integrate new algorithms into our Discovery platform
  • Iterate, optimize and improve our technologies based on customer feedback
  • Conduct code reviews
  • Analyze and improve the efficiency and scalability of our systems and processes
  • Collaborate with Research and Development team members, as well as with external platform users

Requirements

The next Retinaut:

  • Master’s or PhD degree in Machine Learning or Computer Science (or 3+ years of equivalent practical experience)
  • Your technical background includes computer vision and/or medical image and data analysis, as well as a solid experience in programming and machine learning
  • Strong Python skills and proven ability to develop stable and readable code
  • Knowledge of PyTorch (preferred), Tensorflow or similar frameworks
  • Experience with development tools (bug tracking, revision control, testing…)
  • You’re naturally inquisitive and driven to autonomously explore solutions to a given task
  • You enjoy collaboration and have a strong teamwork ethic, as well as a passion for seeking new challenges
  • You’ve got excellent English communication skills and have a track record of working well across diverse and multi-disciplinary teams
  • You are a proven self-starter who knows how to stay motivated and hit goals while working independently as part of a remote team
  • You understand the challenges connected with developing new algorithms and methods and make analytical decisions in order to maximize outcomes
  • A background in the medical field is a plus – especially the ability to understand and communicate with medical professionals
