Job Description

This application is for a 3-month student role from June - August 2023. Resume review begins in January 2023.

In Translational Analytics team, we use human molecular data to identify target genes for neurodegenerative diseases and to identify conserved pathways and genes between model system and human. Toward this end, single-nucleus RNA-seq data have been invaluable resource, and Biogen has been pioneering in generation and analysis of such data from postmortem human patient samples and mouse and iPSC-derived model systems. However, the framework to characterize and unify the data from multiple different data sources are still a challenge, while it is a prerequisite for larger-scale comparative analyses.

Position Description

As the intern, you will integrate single-nucleus RNA-seq data from multiple internal and external sources originating from model organisms as well as human, characterize common cell types across data sets, and confer unified nomenclature according to Cell Ontology. You will also compare transcriptomic similarities and differences across different diseases per cell type. You will join an experienced team of data scientists and have opportunities to closely collaborate with the broader Biogen R&D community.

Qualifications

To participate in the Biogen Internship Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria:
