Backend/Data Engineer - Music Vertical Platform

You’ll join a team of talented engineers solving complex architecture problems and collaborating across teams to develop reliable, scalable solutions that power the Spotify marketplace.

What You'll Do

• Develop and deploy microservices, APIs, and SDKs.
• Deliver testable, maintainable, high-quality code.
• Be an active member of a multi-functional team working alongside product and design.
• Build systems that integrate with Spotify's payments platforms
• Deliver high-quality code and take operational responsibility for the components that you develop.
• Author and circulate technical RFCs to document approaches.
• Work in an environment that supports your individual growth with continuous learning.

Who You Are

• Have strong fundamentals in Computer Science and at least 4+ years of experience building backend services at scale.
• Proficient in building backend technologies in Java.
• Have an interest in and some experience with Scala and data engineering.
• Have an understanding of distributed systems, data structures, and architecture patterns.
• Familiar with cloud providers like AWS or GCP.
• Comfortable working collaboratively on a cross-functional team in a remote-first environment.
• Have a growth mindset and eagerness to learn.

The United States base range for this position is $100,706-$175,308, plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six months of paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, and 13 paid flexible holidays. This range encompasses multiple levels. Leveling is determined during the interview process.  Placement in a level depends on relevant work history and interview performance. These ranges may be modified in the future.
