Background:

The team in OPPO Seattle Research Center focuses on fundamental and cutting-edge AI and robotics technologies in smart platforms (e.g., smartphones, IoT devices and robots). We are devoted to developing technologies with great potentials to positively impact people’s everyday lives in three years and beyond. The Research Interns will conduct cutting edge research at the intersection of computer vision, virtual reality, machine learning and NLP, work on practical real-world applications, and get insight into how an industry R&D center operates, while receiving mentorship and support from experienced researchers, including IEEE Fellow and ACM Distinguished Scientist.

Responsibilities:

Perform research in general AI-related projects on machine learning, pattern recognition, computer vision, and natural language processing to situation perception and decision-making.

The interns will be in charge of developing novel deep learning, computer vision and NLP algorithms and models including but not limited to the following areas:

1. Image segmentation and object detection;

2. Unsupervised representation learning for videos/images and NLP;

3. 3D vision, depth estimation and Virtual Reality;

4. Novel view synthesis and free-viewpoint videos;

5. Neural architecture search (NAS);

6. Deep network compression and pruning;

7. Deep image/video/text content generation and editing;

8. Transformer networks and applications to image/video/NLP;

9. Security and privacy protection for AI models.

Interns should be able to work independently and/or under the mentor’s supervision to develop new algorithms and models. They are also highly encouraged to publish high-quality papers in top-tier conferences and journals.

We also have additional intern openings for 3D vision, virtual reality and robotics at https://apply.workable.com/innopeaktech/j/EBF8686C...
