STR’s Analytics Division develops novel technologies to solve challenging national security problems through advanced analytics. The Analysis and Decisions Systems (ADS) Group in the Analytics Division works to help humans make the best decisions they can. By leveraging expertise with machine learning, advanced algorithms, and software development best practices, we build tools that can make a difference in mission planning, autonomous systems reasoning, tracking of illicit activities, and more.

The Role:

STR is seeking a Principal Investigator to expand our Autonomy team into new research areas. We design, develop, and demonstrate software to enable teams of heterogeneous autonomous robotic systems (e.g., drone swarms) in accomplishing shared objectives.

This hybrid position is based out of STR’s 3500 sq.ft., state-of-the-art Autonomy lab, which is located steps from STR’s Woburn, MA corporate headquarters.

We are seeking candidates with demonstrated experience in capturing and leading impactful Research and Development (R&D) opportunities.

Requirements

  • Experience capturing and leading R&D programs
  • Past work with unmanned systems
  • U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a Security Clearance
  • Ability and willingness to travel approximately once per month

Education:

  • PhD or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related technical field

Preferred:

  • Demonstrated success in business development for National Security contract R&D
  • Experience leading R&D projects leveraging autonomous systems
  • Currently Active Security Clearance
