Purpose of this role:

The purpose of this role is to expand Flusso’s data analysis, data management and algorithm development capacity. Flusso has an incumbent Principal Data Scientist. This new hire will effectively create the Data Science team. Responsibilities on specific projects will be discussed in the team and assignments agreed with the VP Engineering, according to “best fit” with knowledge, experience and availability.

Responsibilities:

General Data analysis

  • Analysis of experimental data and test results (obtained from automated test systems) for sensor performance assessment and improvement
  • Development of internal techniques and tools for data processing

Data Preparation and Quality

  • Assess data quality, highlight and catalogue data anomalies
  • Data preparation, data selection and feature extraction
  • Transfer standardised post processing to AWS lambda functions

Algorithm Development & Sensor Modelling

  • Define experiments and tests needed for algorithm development and performance assessment
  • Analysis of prepared data for development/improvement of algorithms to extract maximum sensing performance and value from novel sensor devices
  • Model and understand sensor performance based on theory (underlying physics) and experimental data.
  • Understand the limitations of operational processing capacity in the sensing solution (typically an ARM M0+core) and design practical algorithms accordingly
  • Define final testing of algorithms and documentation of them.

The related responsibilities are

  • Support the software/firmware team in the implementation of algorithms
  • Work with Test Engineering to improve and extend the database and lambda function capability
