Job Description

This application is for a 12-week internship role from June - August 2023. Resume review begins in January 2023. 

In this role, you will support the Manufacturing and Manufacturing Support groups for the Oral Solid Dosage and the Oligonucleotide Synthesis Manufacturing factories. This department is responsible for managing investigations for manufacturing operations at Biogen, scheduling manufacturing operations, authoring manufacturing documentation, and manufacturing the respective products.  There is a need to create strong and reproducible metrics that support the leadership team’s ability to understand work patterns within their areas.  This department needs a ready data scientist who is great at training someone else who can maintain what was developed. 

Position Description 

Detailed description of role including but not limited to: 

  • Own and develop metrics with machine learning, natural learning processing, and data trending from DevonWay system or other pre-existing systems 

  • Maintain and improve spreadsheets for metric analysis to include statistical tables using Tableau related to investigation process and CAPA effectiveness 

  • Compile and generate Excel spreadsheets from Trackwise capturing key data related to team metrics  

  • Develop and provide input on how to leverage data already available in this department 

Example projects may include: 

  • Update metrics for the Investigations team from this department; using Trackwise database 

  • Create and develop meaningful metrics for other teams of the departments from other relevant databases 

 

Qualifications

  • High proficiency in Microsoft's Office software suite including Word, Excel, Visio, Project, and PowerPoint  

  • Prefer to have completed courses or related experience with pharmaceutical manufacturing 

  • Practical knowledge and application of cGMP, cGLP, EMEA, and FDA compliance regulations and inspections  

  • Ability to balance resource demands from multiple internal customers 

  • Proficiency in knowledge management strategy 

  • High proficiency to import and export data from text files, saved queries, or databases 

  • Ability to query databases (i.e. SQL) 

  • Experience working with common report tools (e.g. Tableau, Alteryx).  Experience with Atlassian confluence, and open-source coding 

  • Experience with Trackwise queries, export, and analysis 

  • Excellent communication and organization skills 

To participate in the Biogen Internship Program, students must meet the following eligibility criteria: 

Legal authorization to work in the U.S. 

At least 18 years of age prior to the scheduled start date 

Be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university 

Education 

  • Undergraduate student completed at least two years of program; or Graduate Student (any year) 

  • Desired majors include: B.S./Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or related Engineering or Science field
