This position is within ITW’s Zip-Pak division.  Zip-Pak is the global leader in resealable solutions for the flexible packaging industry.  Our expertise in zipper, application technology, and packaging systems makes Zip-Pak the primary choice of brand owners, OEM’s, and converters for innovative resealable solutions.  Zip-Pak’s lean, modern, and continuous manufacturing environments produce zippers using high-volume plastic extrusion.  Manufacturing sites are in the United States, Europe, and South America. 

Job Description

Our Data Engineer will provide expertise in building systems that collect, manage and convert raw data into usable information for our function leaders and our function business analysts.

The Data Engineer will build and maintain data systems constructing datasets that are easy to analyze and support company requirements. Using different technologies to collect and map the Company’s data landscape he/she will help decision-makers find cost savings and optimization opportunities. In addition, He/She will use this data to display trends in collected analytics information, encouraging transparency with stakeholders.

He/She implement methods to improve data reliability and quality and combine raw information from different sources to create consistent and intelligent information. He/She also develop and test architectures that enable data extraction and transformation for predictive or prescriptive modeling.

He/She will contribute to the organic growth of the company in improving the quality and accuracy of the information, enabling businesses to make more responsible and strategic business decisions.

Primary Responsibilities:

·       Analyze and organize raw data

·       Build data systems and pipelines

·       Evaluate business needs and objectives

·       Interpret trends and patterns

·       Conduct complex data analysis and report on results

·       Prepare data for prescriptive and predictive modeling

·       Build algorithms and prototypes

·       Combine raw information from different sources

·       Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability

·       Identify opportunities for data acquisition

·       Develop analytical tools and programs

·       Collaborate with data scientists and architects on several projects

·       Build executive dashboards, strategic KPIs and functional reporting to help Leadership to identify growth opportunities and areas for further simplification or automation

·       Guarantee the most appropriate cyber security posture while integrating data from multiple sources

Qualifications

Position Skills and Experience Requirements:  

·       Excellent problem-solving skills to apply data science to a company’s business needs

·       Excellent communication skills engaging with leaders throughout the company

·       Technical expertise with data models, data mining, and segmentation techniques

·       Knowledge of programming languages (e.g. Java and Python)

·       Hands-on experience with SQL database design

·       Great numerical and analytical skills

·       Proven experience in building key performance indicators using Microsoft PowerBI and Microsoft Power Platform

·       Expertise in data integration with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Supply Chain and Finance)

·       Experience working with business leaders and business functions and can demonstrate a strong track record of success understanding the needs of the business and delivering technology solutions that meet those needs.

·       Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems or Computer Science required; a Master’s is a plus

·       5+ years of IT experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment

·       Data engineering certification is a plus
