Job Description

Data integration is among the hardest problems facing the healthcare technology industry; providing clinically-rich, actionable insights to our clients requires asynchronous collection and transformation of disparate data sources in scalable manner.  We source our data Electronic Medical Records, Lab Information Systems, Claims Data Systems, etc., gathering and aggregating robust data sets to serve our customers and the Registries we build for them. As a Data Engineer, you will be part of a mission-critical team implementing data integrations for robust solutions.  Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Implementing robust ETL solutions that integrate healthcare data feeds using tools such as Apache NiFi, ArangoDB, PostgreSQL, Python, and Javascript
  • Building direct interfaces with hospitals and EMR vendors utilizing industry standards such as C-CDA, and FHIR as well as implementing interfaces that consume formats such as XML, JSON, and delimited files 
  • Utilizing APIs and web services to permit bi-directional flows of data to and from our partner organizations
  • Monitoring operational ETL processes, triaging and resolving issues as they arise to meet SLAs
  • Writing PL/SQL functions and packages to automate workflows in a Postgres environment linked with web technologies
  • Maintaining data standards (including adherence to HIPAA), documenting work, and championing process improvements

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience in using data integration / ETL tools 
  • Understanding of relational databases, data modeling / architecture, and SQL query design / optimization
  • Familiarity with a variety of structured and unstructured file formats
  • Knowledge of web technologies such as RESTful APIs
  • Proficiency with Javascript and Python
  • Ability to manage multiple deliverables with competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science or Health Informatics
  • Must live in the US (EDT/EST preferred, this is a FTE role - no C2C)


Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a quantitative field such as Computer Science or Health Informatics
  • Familiarity with healthcare data integration technologies such as  C-CDA and FHIR
  • Project experience involving direct integration with EMR systems
  • Experience with or knowledge of Amazon Web Services
