Based in Southern California with locations in Malibu, Calabasas and Camarillo; HRL has been on the leading edge of technology, conducting pioneering research and advancing the state of the art. 
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Primary job function is to assist in the development and application of state-of-the-art formal methods as applied to autonomous systems. Particular focus is on machine learning, sensor systems, and motion planning algorithms. Tasks will include the development, implementation, and evaluation of algorithms for autonomy in the real-world, such as for vehicle control and navigation.
EXPERIENCE DESIRED:Machine Learning (ML) experience, along with at least one of the following: Adversarial machine learning, computer vision, NLP for formal languages (programming languages, logics, etc.), multi-sensor fusion (e.g. vision, LIDAR, radar), Augmented Reality (AR), Reinforcement Learning (RL), or robotics (preferably mobile vehicles).
Experience using machine learning frameworks such as PyTorch and TensorFlow.
EDUCATION DESIRED:Currently pursuing a PhD, MS or BS in Computer Science, Statistics, EE, or Applied Mathematics.
KNOWLEDGE DESIRED:Experience in one of the following machine learning frameworks: PyTorch, JAX, TensorFlow.
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:Good communication (verbal and written) skills, active participation in R&D team activities is required. Able and willing to occasionally travel.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status required.
Compensation:The pay range for this position $35 - $50 per hour. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hires for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Your recruiter can share more about the specific range during the hiring process. 
This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.
