Senior Data Scientist - Risk

The mission of the risk modelling team is:

We develop, serve, maintain and improve ML Models for Fraud and Financial Crime Detection, Prediction and Prevention in SumUp

The team does so by providing real time models and batch applications in the realm of risk and financial crime over the whole SumUp life cycle and products. Together with the risk platform squad the risk modelling team builds the necessary platform foundations for scalable and reliable ML model serving and development in SumUp. The platform enables a global approach supported by local specifics. 

As part of our data science community the Senior Data Scientist will develop, deploy and maintain risk models in the realm of pre transactions, securing our login and onboarding process with Machine Learning models, detecting returning known fraudsters in disguise and developing models behind activation checkpoints.

In the role of Senior Data Scientist you will be part of the Risk Modelling Squad which is the Data Science Team within the Risk Domain of Online Payments. The team currently consists of 6 Data Scientists and one Data Science Lead, where the Data Scientists are building, deploying and improving Machine Learning Models in both the risk and compliance area. Due to our growing number of projects, we look for somebody who would like to move into a leadership role once established within the team.

Your objective lies in making sure that our clients continue to remain protected from financial crime!

What you’ll do:

• Feature generation
• Model experimentation and evaluation
• Model deployment
• Model monitoring and improvement
• Data Analysis and retrieval
• Use case exploration and stakeholder communication
• Planning, prioritisation, roadmap building
• Contribute actively to knowledge exchange in the Data Science chapter

You’ll be great for this role if you have:

• 5+ years of experience in a Machine learning production environment

• Experience and interest in project leadership/ownership for DS projects

• Python, SQL, Machine Learning

   

It would be an advantage for this role if you have:

• Pyspark
• Experience in risk and fraud statistics and experimental design
