About the team:

Insights from data power most decisions at Robinhood. Data Scientists work with other data scientists and engineers to collect, organize, and analyze data from all parts of our business to power these decisions.

Every decision made at Robinhood is backed by data. Our company trajectory is defined by the systems, tools, and analytics powered by our team. We integrate multifaceted data streams such as rapidly changing market data, user data based on app activity, and brokerage operations data to perfect our processes and workflows.

The preferred location for this position is in or around Robinhood's offices in Menlo Park, CA or New York, NY with in-office work capabilities, as may be required by management.

What you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Combining knowledge of several research domains to help power decisions at Robinhood
  • Designing new machine learning systems to power the analytics efforts at Robinhood
  • Improving the statistical methodology backing our experimentation platform
  • Building statistical models to predict user behavior and risks to the business
  • Adapting machine learning algorithms to solve problems across several teams, such as product, operations, customer support, compliance, and security

About you:

  • Graduate degree in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, engineering or natural sciences (or equivalent research experience)
  • Solid understanding of statistical analysis and machine learning algorithms
  • Advanced SQL skills - comfortable working with very large data sets
  • Excellent programming skills, including expert level familiarity with either Python or R programming languages
  • At least 5 years experience of working in a research setting in academic or commercial setting

CO Residents: In Colorado, the base pay for this position ranges from $146000 - $194000.

NYC Residents: In NYC, the base pay for this position ranges from $187000 - $220000.

This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and participation in Robinhood’s equity plan.

This role is US region-based, with preference for proximity to Robinhood offices in Menlo Park, CA or New York, NY; however, you may elect to work from your home office or the Robinhood office.

Base pay is determined by market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Please note, some of our roles are open to additional levels which would impact the expected base pay.
