Smartsheet is looking for a Data Infrastructure Engineer to be responsible for the structure, design, and operations of the BI Snowflake enrichment code base, to ensure data accessibility and efficiency for stakeholders across Smartsheet. The Data Infrastructure Engineer will implement an efficient/scalable system of schemas and enrichments to optimize transforming data from its raw form in Snowflake, into clean and documented datasets for use by analytics stakeholders and end-users in front-end data products. Working with the BI team, the engineer will ensure the team has the required data to best automate the creation of enrichments and tools/data products.

You will report to our BI Operations Manager located in our Bellevue, WA office, or you may work remotely from anywhere in the US where Smartsheet is a registered employer.

You Will:

  • Turn existing manual or fragile ad hoc processes into repeatable automated jobs
  • Own and maintain infrastructure for an analytics database
  • Handle processes that ingest, move, and transform data
  • Design and implement code testing and merging procedures
  • Coordinate multiple systems for our code base and database (dbt, aws, snowflake, GitLab, etc)
  • Establish rules/processes to ensure proper access levels
  • Ensure all legal/privacy/SOX requirements are met in Snowflake enrichments
  • Provide proper data accessibility and guidelines to analyst teams outside of BI
  • Transform raw company data and 3rd party data into enrichment tables
  • Collaborate with BI team members in the creation of enrichments and data products

You Have:

  • 3-5 years of experience in Advanced SQL knowledge and working with Cloud columnar databases (Google BigQuery, Amazon Redshift, Snowflake)
  • Data engineering experience in building, working & maintaining data pipelines & ETL processes on data environments
  • Production experience working with dbt and designing and implementing Data Warehouse solutions
  • Familiarity with processes supporting data transformation, data structures, metadata, dependency and workload management (data pipeline orchestration, airflow, gitlab scheduler, prefect)
  • Familiarity with AWS solutions such as S3, EC2, VPC
  • Knowledge of standard code management solutions (Gitlab)

Smartsheet provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in different geographic areas we are licensed to operate our business from. Actual compensation is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, level of professional, educational experience, skills, and specific candidate location. In addition, this role will be eligible for a market competitive bonus and RSU stock grant upon accepted offer. California & New York: 97,200 to 140,400 | All other US States: 90,000 to 130,000
