Data Engineer (on 6 months contract)

Spotify India is looking for a Data Engineer as part of our Insights team, to help us out with the growing complexity of internal data engineering needs. As we grow as a market we are building a number of data pipelines that enable us to help us gather insights, to be used across fields / functions like analytics, marketing and content and is an integral part of being able to drive impact within the India market. 

What you'll do

• Design, build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines with additional tasks like data validation, testing and reconciliation
• Implement data monitoring, including basic data quality checks.
• Transform raw data into scalable, performant data models that would be consumed by data analysts and data scientists.
• Design, build and update foundational analytics data models that simplify analyses across the products.
• Implement best practices to ensure high-quality, robust data.
• Design, build and launch new data extraction, transformation and loading processes in production.
• Support existing processes running in production.

Who you are

• BS/BA in a Technical Field, Computer Science or Mathematics.
• A minimum of 2-4 years experience in the data warehouse space, custom ETL design, implementation and maintenance.
• A minimum of 2-4 years experience with schema design and dimensional data modeling.
• A minimum of 2-4 years experience in writing SQL statements and using Python or Java
• Proficiency in data principles, system and data architecture, and dimensional data modeling
• Experience developing orchestration/scheduling jobs
• Experience with cloud platforms (preferably BigQuery)
• Analytical problem solving skills
• Experience with dbt is preferred
• You are knowledgeable and passionate about data modeling, data access, and data storage techniques and improving and building distributed data pipelines
• You care about quality and know what it means to ship high quality code and agile software processes, data-driven development, reliability, and responsible experimentation
