About the role

At Empatica, we work every single day to build products that help the lives of many patients. Our DataR&D team develops all the digital biomarkers that will be embedded in our products bringing them from their initial research stage to a clinically validated stage.

We are looking for a Junior Data Scientist with a passion for science and scientific discovery. If you are an independent, pragmatic, and goal-oriented person, and are able to achieve results in a timely manner, who also happens to be passionate about making a difference in the world, read on.

You will be part of one of our R&D project teams working on the collection and analysis of clinical data.

You will:

  • Carry out state-of-the-art analysis on protocols and ground-truth devices.
  • Support Senior team members on study design.
  • Liaise with third-party providers and internal coordinators.
  • Execute internal data collections.
  • Follow external data collections and provide support to ensure a high-quality output.
  • Refactor, clean and organise existing datasets.
  • Develop data analysis tools.
  • Process data to make them available for algorithm development.
  • Support Senior team members on algorithm development.


Some important details:

  • Empatica is an international environment with offices in Europe and the US, and so we conduct all our work in English.
  • We are operating a hybrid model where our employees choose whether to work from home or come to the office.
  • For limited time periods, missions abroad may be required (e.g. to support data collections

Requirements

You are the ideal person for this job if you:

  • Have a Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering with an excellent academic record.
  • Are rigorous and autonomous.
  • Have programming experience in one or more of the following languages:
    • Python
    • Matlab
  • Have experience in healthcare applications, or a strong interest and desire to learn about them.
  • Are proficient in English (mother tongue is a plus).
  • Have a passion for Empatica’s products and mission.
  • Have resilience, a get-things-done attitude, and an innate desire to do great work.

Nice to have:

  • Hands-on experience with data collections.
  • Experience with large code bases.
