We are seeking a Senior Manager to lead the strategy and execution of insights that enable data-driven decisions for our Advertising Business. You’ll play a key role in enhancing Spotify’s Data & Insights capability that drives more inquisitive strategies across sales, marketing and CRM. You will be leading a growing team of 4-5 data scientists on our Ads Business Insights team. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to use Spotify’s world-class user data infrastructure and collaborate with a global community of hundreds of data scientists.

What You'll Do

  • Lead a growing team of data scientists and insights professionals using a range of approaches from statistical/econometric models to causal inference to drive insights across different functions of advertising business unit - sales, marketing and ops and in close collaboration with product
  • Communicate data-driven insights and recommendations to key stakeholders at the Director, VP, and Executive levels
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to imbibe insights and data solutions in day-to-day decision making, OKR planning, and strategic prioritization.
  • Guide and mentor the team on data science problem sets, choice of modeling method, model application etc.
  • Help the team drive impact by prioritizing problems with the highest business opportunity as well as mentor them on data science technical skills, career progression and stakeholder management
  • Work cross functionally with product insights, qual researchers , systems and tooling teams to put systems in place that improve the quality of our data, insights, data products and its adoption in sales & marketing processes.
  • Translate complex problems and solutions to all levels of the organization.

Who You Are

  • You have a min of 2+ years of experience as a people manager leading a team of Data Scientists and a min of 7+years of data science experience
  • You have experience leading Data Science and Insights in similar businesses (Advertising technology, B2B businesses, Managing business insights in agile environments)
  • You love solving problems collectively with other partners and teams. You are passionate about driving projects, leading solutions for big hairy projects and not scared of having difficult conversations.
  • You have the technical competence to perform sophisticated statistical analysis via efficiently working with large datasets and understanding current data infrastructure
  • You’re a superb communicator with experience conveying ideas to technical and non-technical stakeholders of all levels.
  • You are able to drive the insights home for senior leaders and don’t believe in building models for the sake of sophistication.
  • You are passionate about mentoring!
  • Proven experience in people management and leadership.
  • Completing a degree with a specialization in Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Operations Research, or another quant field is helpful.
  • You have experience leading Data Science and Insights in similar businesses (Advertising technology, B2B businesses, Managing business insights in agile environments)
The United States base range for this position is $134,236-$191,765, plus equity. The benefits available for this position include health insurance, six month paid parental leave, 401(k) retirement plan, monthly meal allowance, 23 paid days off, 13 paid flexible holidays. These ranges may be modified in the future.
