At Huawei Noah's Ark in Montreal, we are a small but growing, dynamic and diverse team driving AI innovation in a large organization with a vast network of R&D centers across the world. Think of us as a startup with the support and benefits of a huge global organization.

Located close to Little Italy and next to a metro station, our Montreal lab is recruiting machine learning developers/researchers for NLP projects in our growing Speech and Natural Language Processing group to program code to demonstrate research proof of Concept and demos.

• Participate in applied and fundamental research projects in Huawei.
• Delivering projects and presenting results.
• Being an independent thinker and autonomous team player with good oral and written communication skills.
• Advance the state of the art in NLP and ML, and publish in top conference in NLP and ML.

Qualifications

• Hold a Master or PhD (preferred) in computer science, software or electric engineering or related subjects.
• Deep understanding of fundamentals and state of the art techniques in NLP and ML.
• Expertise in NLP using machine learning or deep learning.
• Strong coding skills mainly in Python, with a focused expertise in PyTorch.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
•  You should be curious, like to think outside the box and appreciate complex challenges. Being outside of your comfort zone doesn't throw you off.

Additional Information

Preferred skills:

• Publications in top tier NLP\ML conferences (e.g., ACL, EMNLP, NAACL, EACL, NeurIPS, ICML, etc.).
• Having a strong mathematics or statistics background is a plus.
• Good communication skills: Our projects have a diverse set of stakeholders, many in remote locations, so we are looking for emotional intelligence, flexibility and tolerance. Diversity makes our team and research stronger and better.
• Industry experience in deep learning and NLP.
