Job Purpose:

Sword Venture are currently seeking a candidate to fill a Junior Data Management position that would ideally suit a graduate looking for their first role in oil and gas, or someone who has 1-2 years' experience looking for a fresh challenge.

The successful candidate will work alongside a talented team providing a key managed service to our Oil & Gas super major client.

The successful candidate will see themselves working as part of a small project team based offsite in the UK working simultaneously with a team based overseas. The objective is to create a quality-controlled batch of Well data which adheres to the project requirements and client requests.

Requirements

  • University Degree, preferably in Geology/Petroleum Geology/Earth Sciences with a sound knowledge of Computer Science and IT. Any previous experience handling Seismic, Data Loading or Data Processing data would be beneficial,
  • An understanding of Upstream (Geoscience & Engineering) data types and the complex nature of how the data is obtained, stored, integrated, applied and managed across multiple business functions,
  • Undergraduate level degree in Petroleum-related discipline or equivalent.

Desirable Skills:

  • A knowledge of the wireline, MWD and LWD logging tools and their applications,
  • Cross-discipline knowledge within the subsurface domain (Geology, Geophysics, Reservoir Engineering, Petrophysics, Wells etc.),
  • An understanding of the latest technologies and emerging regulatory compliance,
  • Knowledge of the upstream geoscience and engineering discipline,
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and work to strict deadlines,
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both in house staff and clients abroad,
  • A self-starter with the ability to solve technical problems,
  • Willingness to research and master complex software,
  • Improve overall efficiency as part of a small team,
  • Knowledge of project data management, Data Clean-up, Quality control and Data loading,
  • Any experience working with well used software such as Petrel, Techlog, Geolog etc.
