Team:
This team owns the factory platform, data architecture and supporting infrastructure to from factory to launch systems. We’re creating the platform applications, core services, data and analytics infrastructure to realize the vision of our Factory Operating system. This role would take leadership position guiding our software platform and establishing foundational practices across for a software engineering team with talent from an array of backgrounds including SpaceX, Google, Amazon, Microsoft, Virgin Orbital and more.
What you’ll do:
Lead a technical architecture for our Data Platform, including but not limited to:
- Technical vision, solutions and ecosystem development
- Data warehousing, discovery and platform federation
- Data technology abstraction and API development
- Data interoperability
- Analytics and Reporting architectures
- Data-lake, ETL, Data Modeling
- Technology partner assessment & selection
In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring and anticipating data needs across the organization. This will require being adept at developing and nurturing high potential team members, scaling core systems, and designing and determining new data/service implementations varying from on-premise to cloud. This is a key strategic role for the company as data is at the center of enabling our factory and launch success. As a leader, you will need to integrate with multiple disciplines across the factory floor and launch site to assure success.
What you need to know:
- Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 4+ years of experience leading data architectures at scale
- 8+ years of experience leveraging an array of data technologies including one or many of the following: InfluxDB, MongoDB, Redis, PostgresSQL, Cassandra, Kafka, Spark, and more
- 8+ years of experience with at least one of C++, Python, C#, Typescript
- 10+ years of experience implementing code level patterns to enable codebases and teams to scale
- Familiarity with agile methodologies
- Familiarity with containerization and deployment technologies like Kubernetes and Docker
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to create scalable architectures across an array of usage patterns and organizations
- Demonstrated ability to learn, grow and mentor others to drive best practices and/or accelerate development lifecycles
- Demonstrated ability to self-organize, plan, and execute on projects
Nice to haves but not required:
- Demonstrated ability to plan organizational roadmaps and skill/team alignment
- Familiarity with other modern languages like Go and Rust
