The Federal Civilian business unit supports a wide range of customers that span the federal, commercial, and non-profit space. Our customers include the General Services Administration, Office of Personnel Management, PAN Foundation, Library of Congress, Social Security Administration, Health and Human Services and the USDA US Forest Service. We partner with these agencies to build new capabilities, deliver products, establish data as a strategic asset for informed decision-making, modernize legacy systems, and build the digital service infrastructure necessary to scale their mission impact by applying approaches proven in consumer technology.

The Data Analyst develops and implements a set of techniques or analytics applications to transform raw data into meaningful information using data-oriented programming languages and visualization software. They extract and analyze information from large structured and unstructured datasets and work closely with stakeholders to provide relevant data science.

What you’ll do

Our ideal Data Analyst will lead the effort to create, iterate on, and maintain a Data Dictionary.  They will be responsible for providing detailed analysis of existing schemas, common fields, unique fields, schema mapping and discovering data formatting differences with agency data.  The Data Analyst will define field terms, identify conflicts, and provide recommendations for cleanup solutions to align with shared, interagency understandings.

  • Work with Product Managers and Data Analysts to understand the baselines, norms, and pain points of the data
  • Participate in research to understand agency-specific data requirements
  • Determine what data is unique within agencies, what data is shared and what can be consolidated
  • Determine list of data fields
  • Iteratively develop the new data standard to scale and meet requirements
  • Document reporting needs
  • Define permission policies
  • Develop a centralized governance process
  • Lead the effort to develop a Data Dictionary

What You'll Bring

  • Prior experience with payroll data preferred
  • Experience in guiding migrations from on premises to cloud
  • Advanced skills in using statistical software languages like R or Python to analyze, manipulate, or process large sets of data
  • Extensive SQL aptitude with the ability to write scalable, maintainable queries
  • Experience with data lakes, databases, and APIs to ingest and transform data
  • Demonstrates experience in gathering information from end users and project stakeholders, identifying (and validating existing) requirements, and translating these into relevant data analysis and reporting
  • Analyze large and complex data sets and communicate results and findings to senior leaders and executives, including through the use of visualizations
  • Collaborate with team of data analysts, data scientists/statisticians, and/or data engineering team depending on project to improve data workflows and standardize processes for analysis as well as perform ad hoc analysis
  • Working with varied data sources including web analytics and user data to analyze usage and present findings with visualization software such as Tableau, Looker, PowerBI, Domo, etc
  • Collaborate with the stakeholders and multidisciplinary team to develop, integrate and continually improve data management processes
  • Develop metrics and algorithms to understand user demand, user behavior, and provide insights into user experiences or product and user trends
  • Visualizes, interprets, and reports data findings via dashboards, reports, and charts
  • Demonstrates understanding of the design and UX implications of different data visualizations, including best practices for reports/dashboards and charts
  • Deliver and explain data analytics methodologies and improvements with minimal guidance and support from other team members
  • Advanced experience in descriptive, diagnostic, and predictive analytics
  • Mentor and coach other data analyst on skills and development
  • Participate in interviewing for data roles and data capability development at Ad Hoc

Requirements

  • 4 years of previous or relevant experience REQUIRED
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Our Federal contracts require that you be a U.S. Citizen to be eligible for employment.
  • All work must be conducted within the U.S.

Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and responsibility . The range of starting pay for this role is $81,666 - $115,934 and information on benefits offered is here.
