About the Role

Glassdoor's main mission is to help people everywhere find a job and company they love. At Glassdoor, we are redefining the industry by thoughtfully creating a world where radical transparency holds companies accountable in order to assist them in becoming better employers. While our main office locations are in San Francisco, CA and Chicago, IL, this role is open to remote hiring. Join us if you’re interested in implementing novel models at scale for real-world applications!

What You’ll Do

As a Machine Learning Science intern, you will work on building novel Machine Learning models in a collaborative and encouraging team of expert machine learning scientists. You will not just learn- you will also gain hands-on exposure around the full Machine Learning development process, including:

  • Data querying and analysis
  • Feature engineering
  • Model training/tuning
  • Model deployment.

The project you will be provided will be tailored toward your abilities and interests, while meaningfully contributing towards Glassdoor's mission.

Some technologies that you'll get the opportunity to work on include modern open source technologies like

  • Airflow
  • MLFlow
  • Spark

Just like our full-time employees, you will be expected to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code — but we're more than happy to provide the feedback to help you get there!

What You’ll Bring

We are looking for someone with a firm grasp of foundational machine learning concepts, including a proven understanding of different classification and regression models (proven understanding of deep learning approaches for NLP is a huge plus). Having prior experience with feature engineering and dealing with both structured and unstructured textual data would also be beneficial to ramping up quickly.

You should be proficient in coding with Python and have some familiarity with numeric, data analysis, and machine learning libraries. For example:

  • NumPy
  • pandas
  • scikit-learn
  • PyTorch

Finally, we're looking to see that you are able to communicate your ideas clearly and concisely, and can collaborate well with others.

Hourly pay rate: $40 / hour
