Role Purpose

We are looking for a Junior Data Engineer to join our Enterprise Data Engineering team. You will use various methods to transform raw data into useful data systems. Overall, you’ll strive for efficiency by aligning data systems with business goals. To succeed in this data engineering position, you should have strong analytical skills and the ability to combine data from different sources. Junior Data engineer skills also include familiarity with several programming languages like Python, Spark & SQL. If you are detail-oriented, with excellent organizational skills and experience in this field, we’d like to hear from you.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • This role will be responsible for the development and maintenance of the data platform as per our reference architecture.
  • Maintain ETL pipelines including spark scripts (Knowledge of Azure Dataflow or comparative technologies)
  • Combine raw information from different sources
  • Create and improve dashboards (PowerBI/Tableau) as per business requirements
  • To ensure data governance rules are followed internally by IT and throughout the wider business.
  • Explore ways to enhance data quality and reliability
  • To actively contribute to refining the data dictionary repository to ensure up to date and relevant documentation is available and accessible to all stakeholders
  • Support development activities by offering advice, troubleshooting and problem solving of data development
  • Using DevOps, ensure that all data projects meet the required standard for each environment and can migrate through from dev to production with minimum of input required by other teams

Requirements

  • Writing SQL database queries and some experience on Cube
  • Knowledge on Data warehousing tools such as Synapse, Snowflake or Redshift
  • Good coding skills in at least of any one of the programming languages (Python, Java, C#, Scala)
  • Understanding of Devops experience and an understanding of the importance of everything as code
  • Understanding in software development lifecycle (Agile/Lean methodologies)
  • Cloud platform experience (Azure, AWS, etc.)
