Job Description

Experian is a global leader in Data and Analytics. We have access to award-winning solutions that support both businesses and consumers alike. Our Affordability products assist by blending bureau and open data sources to get the best view of an individual. By having a clearer view, businesses can then ensure they offer affordable products and services to their customers.

Based in our Glasgow office, you’ll begin your journey by learning about Data Annotation – The process of labelling data in the correct format. As your progress, you’ll then take on more responsibilities growing your career as a fully-fledged Data Scientist.

One day you could be reviewing bank account transaction data and turning this into valuable insights – the next you could delivering a proof of concept to a client on how our products could benefit them.

As a Graduate Data Scientist, you will learn how to:

  • Develop and maintain data processes and models to support Experian’s Affordability data products. Things such as: CastScore, Income Insights and CaaS
  • Create, review and maintain datasets for use in Experian data products
  • Work with data science colleagues to peer review and constructively challenge work done in the team
  • Work with clients to gather data requirements, execute proof of concept activities, and provide expertise to support the usage of Experian data products

This will be achieved by working with data science colleagues to understand existing models, datasets and processes. Your input is highly valuable, which is why we encourage you to proactively give feedback and offer thoughts and suggestions, on how to improve our products and services. You may have a bold new idea or a different take on an existing product that will help us improve it and provide great value to organisations and consumers.

We see Graduates as the future of our organisation meaning your potential will be celebrated and rewarded here at Experian.

If you choose to join us, you’ll receive industry training, wide-reaching career opportunities and a wealth of support through our Early Careers Network, buddy, line manager & mentor scheme. You’ll also join onto our 2-year structured Graduate Development Programme, which is packed with workshops, short-courses & online material designed to help kick-start your career.

Our concept is simple. We believe in expanding horizons – it’s what makes Experian a global leader and a Top UK Tech Employer.

Qualifications

You’ll have recently achieved or be on track to achieve a minimum 2:2 degree classification. A Bachelor’s degree with a high mathematical content (e.g. Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research (O.R.), Economics, Physical Sciences, Engineering) is encouraged.

Any knowledge of Python is valuable to this role as we utilise tools such as sklearn, panda, numpy, scipy, flask and jupyter notebooks to support with data manipulation.

It’s important you’re the type of character who isn’t going to give up when you hit a complex problem. Proactivity and curiosity will be your best friends in this role.
