Job Description

Working hours are Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm.

As IT Business Analyst – Data Science/Big Data for Eurofins Food and Water Testing UK you will be working as part of a brand new business stream, looking to create improvements on existing tools and develop new tools to support exciting new business offerings and services. These new offerings will be around Data Science/Big Data approaches.

You will be responsible for analysing business processes, working with data to help the business understand how best to utilise it, as well as working with software development teams, for implementation of software solutions in UK & Ireland Laboratories.

Working as part of a large and dynamic IT local IT Team. You will work with business units from around UK & Ireland (Mainly UK) identify, scope and drive change and improvement through IT solutions. Working mainly within laboratories and with LIMS systems. You will be a key driver for helping us better utilise our data and working with the business to create the right internal and external facing tools to deliver new business services.

This position is ideal for a Business Analyst with good experience in working in data heavy industries. This role will be very much focused around creating reports for the business and scoping functionality to automate. Working with developers, that will be utilising machine learning and data science techniques. This role will be involved in hands on scoping, analysing, implementing, configuration and support of business solutions.

The role is located in Wolverhampton. There will be some travel to UK and Ireland sites.

Key duties as IT Business Analyst include:

  • Work with business to scope business processes.
  • Work with the business to understand the current data and information processes.
  • Working with internal and external partners to identify the right requirements and functionality to develop.
  • Working with various partners and stakeholders, and helping the business identify the right approaches to take.
  • Take business requirements and processes, identify changes improvements and challenge requests to come up with optimal solutions.
  • Work with the business to scope requirements, write-up specifications for changes.
  • Understand business requirements, and ensure optimal solutions are delivered.
  • Work with key stakeholders to identify timelines and manage projects.
  • Work with multiple development teams, monitoring development, liaise with key stakeholders on blockages or changes to development.
  • Facilitating meetings, training and workshops for key users.
  • Working with both legacy systems, as well as implementation and scoping of cutting edge replacement systems.
  • Play an active part in development and scoping of solutions.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills, including good documentation and written skills.
  • At least 3 years’ experience of business analyst role, or roles in which Scoping and/or project management skills were a key part.
  • Experience of agile development and management platforms (TFS, Kanban, Jira, Youtrack or similar).
  • Experience of working in a data heavy industry.
  • Experience of working in SQL and data/BI tools.
  • Experience of working directly with development teams.
  • Good presentation skills.
  • Good relationship building skills.
  • Ability to engage in constructive conversation, and challenge stakeholders to achieve optimal solutions.
  • Experience in ERP solutions (Ideally LIMS).
