Job Description

The Senior Data Manager leads the implementation of processes for how data is produced and  consumed by the data management team, including governance, architecture, and quality, in order to  meet evolving business objectives and technology landscapes. The jobholder works with business and  technology team members to implement the data strategy for meeting specific business objectives. As a  core member of a product development or strategic insights team, supports solution design and  technical specifications in order to ensure the data requirements of business objectives are met with  compliance, high quality, extensibility, and commercial success

 

B.Responsible

• Create physical data models that can be operationalized within the company’s workflows and  infrastructure to ensure data solutions meet business requirements  
• Map data flows between systems and workflows across the company to drive efficiency and ensure  proper controls  
• Support the segmentation of data assets into sustainable and business-enabling domains by applying  domain-driven design and enterprise architecture best practices (e.g. TOGAF)  
• Support the implementation of efficient data ingestion solutions, batch processing, and event-based  streams to enable real-time actions and rapid business decisions  
• Connect datasets from different systems into a unified solution to deliver high-value data 
• Monitor relevant SLIs and SLOs to support ownership of data solutions end-to-end 
• Define quality requirements for data domains and data assets, based on standards for all data quality  dimensions, to ensure design of high-quality data solutions  
• Develop solutions for validating values and schemas to ensure data accuracy and reliability 
• Develop approaches for monitoring, failure detection, and data availability to ensure data timeliness  and completeness  
• Collaborate with stakeholders in designing data definitions against specific business uses with  adherence to all data protection standards to ensure data precision and integrity  
• Build software applications by using the relevant development languages for the systems, services  and tools used by the specific business area  
• Write readable and reusable code by applying standard patterns and using standard libraries 
• Ensure data reliability by developing and implementing validation against structural requirements 
• Ensure data timeliness based on business requirements by driving strategy and implementation of  monitoring and failure detection  
• Ensure completeness of data by identifying critical elements and filling gaps before making data  available  
• Ensure the precision of data by working with various stakeholders to define data definitions against  their specific business applications and continuously monitor their performance 
• Ensure the full integrity of data by driving adherence to all data protection standards and  continuously monitoring their success

 

B.Skilled

• 5+ years of experience in a similar role
• Bachelor's Degree
• Experienced in data modeling methods (Relational, Dimensional)
• Knowledge of Enterprise Architecture, e.g. TOGAF
• Knowledge of data quality requirements and implementation methodologies
• Familiarity with Data Management requirements based on best practices, e.g. DAMADMBOK
• Knowledge of one or more database querying languages or scripting tools, e.g. SQL, VBA, Pandas, R
• Knowledge of IT governance frameworks, e.g. COBIT 5
