Job Description

KPMG’s Analytics and Data Management Team is a passionate group of specialists that brings together capabilities across data management and governance, data engineering, data visualization, analytics and data science including artificial intelligence, and machine learning within KPMG’s Audit, Assurance and Risk Consulting division. We collaboratively support a broad range of clients across the public and private sectors helping protect trust, manage risk and build value with data. Our rapidly growing team spans Australia’s capital cities, working together in a dynamic and inclusive environment with opportunities to learn, bond and make a meaningful impact with our shared passion for data and analytics.

We are hiring for our Canberra team to support our growth into Federal Government and Defense with roles open from "Consultant through to Manager" that cover a broad range of data specializations.

Your opportunity:

There are a number of roles available across data specializations and levels of experience providing you the opportunity to work on some of the below activities.

  • Engage with senior stakeholders to shape the data capabilities that support their strategies and solutions.
  • Define data strategies to help organizations reach their strategic goals.
  • Design and implement robust data governance and data management operating models including effective structures, roles and responsibilities, and processes to effectively manage data risk across the enterprise.
  • Interpret data risk and regulatory frameworks to design robust approaches for clients to embed controls into ways of working.
  • Define and build the data flows and required controls to deliver trusted data to consumers.
  • Design and build complex data systems and pipelines using a broad range of tools and technologies.
  • Use leading data analytics tools and methods to connect data and unlock actionable insights from large, disparate data sources.
  • Demonstrate your understanding of client problems through succinct, logical, and impactful reports and dashboards.
  • Engage in continuous learning, in both formal and informal settings, to keep up to date with the rapid evolution of data and to drive your professional growth.
  • More experienced applicants would also have the opportunity to:
  • Lead junior team members on a day-to-day basis, providing mentoring and professional development.
  • Develop strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, identifying opportunities for future business.
  • Coach stakeholders and leaders on better practice data risk management considering local and global trends.

Qualifications

You bring to the role:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written, able to deal with difficult stakeholders, problem solve, and suggest process improvements.
  • High level of organization and ability to manage conflicting deadlines, priorities, and a variety of work engagements.
  • Ability to quickly build strong relationships and network with a variety of stakeholders both internal and external.
  • Federal government or Defence experience well regarded. Current AGVSA security clearance or eligibility to obtain clearance required.
  • Experience with at least one of the following data skillsets:
  • Understanding of processes to identify and govern data risks and controls
  • Experience applying data management, strategy, and operations
  • Understanding of the policy, legislative, operational, and technical considerations of sharing data within government
  • Experience in implementing and maintaining data governance and data quality toolsets
  • Experience building and operating databases, integrations, and analytics. Cloud experience in this well regarded (particularly AWS/Azure).
  • Data visualization and dashboards
  • Advanced analytical or AI/ML experience
