Job Description

As a Data Engineer at Verisk Marketing Solutions, you will be responsible for collecting, processing and providing in-depth analysis of a wide range of data. You will work on data migrations and transformational projects with colleagues to design large-scale data processing systems, data storage systems, develop data pipelines optimized for scaling, and troubleshoot platform issues.

A Data Engineer works with cross-functional teams to design and develop cost-effective, resilient and scalable data solutions using, but not limited to, AWS Cloud technology, Snowflake Datawarehouse, and legacy Oracle / MSSQL Server databases. Depending on the project, will work on self-organized teams or individually; therefore, you must have the skills to work as a team or by ourselves to achieve goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

  • Design and develop automated data solutions (ingestion, processing, modeling and all the necessary logic to create high quality products).
  • In-depth analysis of a wide range of data to provide valuable information for product improvements and decision making.
  • Design and develop Test Plan, including:
    • Functional Testing (Unit, Integration and Regression tests)
    • Non-functional Testing (Performance, Installation and Recovery tests)
  • Create necessary documentation for Technical design, Project tracking, Training material, etc.
  • Provide support on production issues.
  • Constantly research to keep up-to-date on data technologies.

Qualifications

  • University degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics or related field.
  • 2+ years of professional experience, in a technical role, designing and programming database solutions and data pipeline automation.
  • Proficiency in SQL and large-data wrangling skills.
  • Proven knowledge in Enterprise databases like Oracle, Snowflake, MSSQL.
  • Previous programming experience (at least one): Python, JavaScript , Scala, Spark.
  • Creativity to design and build solutions/products for analyzing large data sets
  • Prior experience working in Agile environments
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (Spanish/English)
  • Be self-motivated -Have a desire to always be learning and self-improving.
  • Be collaborative -effective communicator, strong team player.
  • Have a good level of compromise -support company's decisions.
  • Be adaptive and flexible -able to change direction as required.

Nice to Have

  • Experience in Agile software development methodology
  • Experience using Jenkins.
  • Experience or knowledge of Amazon Web Services(AWS) technologies and data marketplace tools such as: S3, EC2, Lambda functions, Matillion ETL , Snowflake DB
