Job Description

A comprehensive and reliable behavior planning is key to any anticipatory driver assistance and automated driving system. Our research group develops novel groundbreaking, interpretable behavior planning solutions using classical and state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms. If you are a dedicated behavior planning enthusiast who wants to join this endeavor, we may have the perfect position for you.

  • Develop cutting-edge algorithms for interpretable behavior planning for automated vehicles that combine deep learning and model-based approaches.
  • You apply machine learning techniques (particularly deep learning) with regard to performance, training, and suitability to advance the state of the art in this field of research.
  • You are part of the team defining figure of merits for the reliability of the behavior planning for automated driving.
  • You work in an agile and diverse research team with exchange across several projects. In addition, you contribute to the scientific community with publications on top tier conferences and journals.
  • You validate/evaluate your algorithms both in simulation as well as on a test vehicle in real world.

Qualifications

  • Education: Masters degree in computer science, robotics, electrical engineering, or mathematics with excellent academic achievements; preferably PhD in related area
  • Personality: highly self-motivated, logical thinking, goal-oriented, flexible, team player
  • Working Practice: goal-oriented and open-minded
  • Experience and Knowledge: profound knowledge of machine learning algorithms and principles, preferably deep learning; expertise in behavior planning, knowledge in automated driving systems and/or robotics, proven programming skills in Python, C++ is a plus; experience with Pytorch (preferred) or Tensorflow
  • Enthusiasm: passion for new ideas and development of solutions for real-world problems
  • Languages: fluent in English (written and spoken) and good in German
