Senior Data Architect

The Senior Data Architect will provide comprehensive data management and storage solutions expertise to the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) to ensure the reliability and operation of the nation’s critical cyber infrastructure. As a key member of that team this position will effectively manage the migrations of current system and data environments, secure record keeping and provide solutioning for transporting, storing, managing, and retrieving data.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:·        Assist in the building a temporary MQA specific environment to ready data for compatibility and deployment to the government Azure cloud·        Identify the data artifacts, the data sources, stream format and retention requirements - Design center, FAB, MES, and PDE are example data streams that are prioritized by analysis for deployment to the government cloud·        Conduct data migration and long-term storage solutioning·        Keep records secured and ensure the classification of all data·        Utilize client solutions for transporting, storing, managing, and retrieving data to and from the Government environment, including cloud·        Monitor database and storage hardware performance, and should an issue arise, notify stakeholders in addition to resolving any/all issues immediately·        Effectively manage the successful migration of the current environment supporting both the legacy systems and the applications to an effective and efficient data environment supporting all systems·        Focus on sound principles to ensure the security, availability and integrity of data and appropriate access, interoperability, and data stream evaluation·        Create integration architecture and process models to ensure issues and solutions are understood by all management, staff, and administrators to optimize storage and to effectively define applications for the end state cloud operating environment·        Work with other project stakeholders to determine interoperability requirements during planning, development, and sustainment stages of projects, and resolve shortages to current environments. ·        Ensure that users can have access to data in a timely manner, our team performs DBA duties including managing database schemas, queries, and statistical report generation ·        Manage file movement and version control processes for application files moving through test phases and into Production including developing and running scripts to alter and manipulate underlying database structures, providing queried results on underlying data in support of customer requests and manipulating data as needed·        Use Oracle as database backend to create procedures, triggers, and indices as part of their database maintenance activities·        Other duties as related to the business functions of FWG Solutions, as assignedConduct data management and governance of solutions that includes supply chain and data chain of custody from numerous and varying data streams
Requirements & Qualifications:Education:·        Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
Licenses & Certifications:·        Ability to obtain and/or maintain a U.S. security clearance, as required·        AWS Certified Solutions Architect Certification, preferred
Experience:·        Minimum of six to eight (6-8) years’ experience in a similar Data Architect role working for the government·        Expertise in AWS and/or Microsoft data tools·        Extensive experience creating and maintaining databases in support of applications developed by them, performing independent analyses of databases designed by other parties and providing recommendations towards meeting goals such as reducing size, increasing performance, and enhancing security. ·        Extensive experience working with Oracle software·        Microsoft Azure Cloud migration and implementation expertise·        Knowledge and extensive experience in networking, systems management, programming and tool development, the Microsoft Windows (different variants) operating system, security analyst tools and techniques, and system design and architecture ·        End to end data management and governance across supply channels
