Are you excited about building high-performance robotic systems that can perceive, learn, and act intelligently alongside humans? The Robotics AI team is creating new science products and technologies that make this possible, at Amazon scale. We work at the intersection of computer vision, machine learning, robotic manipulation, navigation, and human-robot interaction.

The Amazon Robotics team is seeking broad, curious applied scientists and engineering interns to join our diverse, full-stack team. In addition to designing, building, and delivering end-to-end robotic systems, our team is responsible for core infrastructure and tools that serve as the backbone of our robotic applications, enabling roboticists, applied scientists, software and hardware engineers to collaborate and deploy systems in the lab and in the field. Basic Qualifications


  • Currently enrolled in a PhD program in Computer Science, Engineering, Machine Learning, Operations Research or similar with a graduation date after December 2023
  • Must be available and eligible for a full-time (40h/week) internship between May/June and August/September 2023
  • At least two years of relevant academic research in state-of-the-art approaches for at least one of computer vision, resource allocation, optimization, planning, machine learning, or reinforcement learning
  • Fluency in at least one statistical software package such as R, Stata, or Matlab
  • Experience with programming languages such as Java, C++, Python

Preferred Qualifications

  • Superior communication and data presentation skills
  • Prior use of Java or C++ for research algorithm development
  • Demonstrated ability to work on collaborative, cross-functional teams
  • Understanding of big data computing frameworks (Hadoop, Spark, etc) and Amazon Web Services
  • Scientific mindset and the ability to invent, excellent creative problem solving skills
  • Ability to develop system prototypes in simulation
  • Drive to see a project through from research concept to working simulation prototype
  • A working knowledge of analysis of algorithms and computational complexity
