Role Purpose: Data Management DevOps Engineers at Jumio focus on providing reliable, secure and scalable persistent storage for Jumio’s production environment. Furthermore, they provide guidance on best practice usage of the provided services. The role collaborates with a friendly and supportive global team, including working closely with Product Management, Engineering, Testing and Development teams.

Example Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain and help us to evolve our cloud-based Infrastructure
  • Maintain and extend Jumio’s Data Mesh
  • Deployment, management and administration of data management systems in a public cloud environment
  • Own all operational aspects of the various data management systems, including automation, monitoring, alerting, reliability and performance
  • Assist the various teams to get access to the data they need
  • Work closely with the various product teams, Jumio’s Information Security and legal team to classify data and keep sensitive data secure
  • Drive our adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) - with strong focus on persistent storage
  • Develop solution for deploying highly secure, highly available, performant and scalable services in elastically provisioned environments
  • Help to optimise our monitoring system
  • Maintain our documentation
  • Share your ideas and expertise
  • Support your colleagues as part of a cross-functional team
  • Have a direct impact on Jumio’s business by identifying innovative solutions to operational challenges
  • Drive solutions and communication for production impacting incidents

Experience and Qualifications: 

  • Thorough understanding of virtualisation platforms, containerization, relational and non-relational data store, reverse proxies and orchestration platforms
  • Experience and knowledge in operating PostgreSQL, Redis, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, Athena, EBS, EFS and S3 or at least some of those products is required
  • Proven professional experience in system and/or network administration (Linux)
  • Experience working with public cloud hosted services (AWS, Azure, GCP) 
  • Expert knowledge of and experience with various flavours of Linux (LPIC-3 certification or equivalent would be an advantage)
  • Experience with git and associated workflows
  • Experience in planning, designing and operation of highly available IT infrastructure
  • Good understanding of Information Security (ideally experience with PCI DSS certified environments)
  • Programming/scripting skills (ideally Bash/Ruby/Python)

Great to Have Experience and Qualifications: 

  • Terraform and the concept of immutable infrastructure
  • Amazon Web Services or a similar cloud platform, ideally AWS certified engineer or equivalent
  • Packer, Docker, Consul, HAProxy, ECS
  • RESTful APIs, HTTP, TCP/IP, TLS
  • Bachelor’s or advanced Degree in Computer Science or closely related field
  • Strong operating systems knowledge in Linux/Unix
  • Experience building distributed systems, deploying and operating large scale systems 
  • Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills 
  • Strong programming and scripting skills, preferably in Python, Ruby, C, Java, Groovy and/or bash shell scripting
