Business Area Markets maximizes the value of Vattenfall’s portfolio by optimizing and dispatching, hedging and sourcing for Vattenfall's assets and sales positions. We offer power purchase agreements to operators of wind or solar parks, optimize 3rd party batteries and enter into origination deals within the B2B segment. We serve as Vattenfall’s single market access to energy commodity markets trading in electricity, emissions, fuels, freight, and renewable certificates. We are responsible for generating profits by taking positions within defined risk mandates and limits. We are active across Europe with more than 500 professionals working from Sweden, Germany, The Netherlands, and Denmark. 

In Business Unit (BU) Assets we maximise the value of all Vattenfall assets in Germany, the Netherlands and United Kingdom through optimal planning, bidding and dispatching of power plant capacities. In addition, we are responsible for the development and execution of an appropriate hedge strategy of the overall exposure of Vattenfall.

For our office in Hamburg Business Area (BA) Markets is looking for the right person to fill the position as

(Junior) Dispatch Manager / Data Analyst.
 
Your Job 

You will support in the 24/7 shift as a (Junior) Dispatch Manager optimizing our renewable and conventional assets. This will prepare you to support us later with your practical experience also as a Data Analyst.

To support the transition of the energy system, our focus lies on increasing efficiency, driving the adoption of advanced analytics and automation and developing our capabilities to enable the optimization and steering of new, decentral energy systems. You will be welcomed by a very engaged team that values cooperation and building an environment where both business and employees thrive.

In this position you will have the opportunity to learn first-hand about the energy transition and deepen your analytical knowledge to make an impact on our digital transformation activities.

• Supporting the dispatch team with intraday optimization in 24/7 shift set up 
• Conducting physical online optimization aiming to maximize profits out of portfolio opportunities and minimize the variable costs in cases of outages and must runs
• Cooperation in the further development of our IT systems in an agile environment
• Data analysis, monitor data flows and quality, supporting settlement processes
• Daily coordination of the current status with the power plants and planned maintenance work

Qualifications

Your Profile

• Willingness to support 24/7 Dispatch shift on nights, weekends and bank holidays
• University degree (engineering, economics, science) or comparable professional education with additional qualification
• Prior knowledge of the energy market and initial experience in power plant operation are beneficial
• You are a quick learner with a structured mindset, a good communicator and willing to share creative ideas
• Strong analytical skills, preferably with background in optimization methods and/or data analysis
• You have first experience of development in Python and a strong grip of analytical methods
• Good knowledge of the German and English language, Dutch language skills advantageous
