All of this begins with our team collaborating in a values-driven and learning-oriented environment.
To achieve our ambitious goals, we’re looking for a Product Manager to own natural language understanding at Grammarly. This role will drive quality improvements and new model development in areas such as summarization, question answering, and entity detection while partnering with product experience teams to expand Grammarly’s AI-based assistance using NLU models.
Your impact
As a Product Manager for natural language understanding, you’ll drive Grammarly’s understanding of what our users are reading and writing. You’ll push the limits of our cutting-edge models to deliver more contextually aware writing assistance, help users conquer information overload, and provide anything else needed to make Grammarly more valuable to all our users.
To achieve this goal, you’ll become the expert in state-of-the-art techniques for natural language understanding, understanding our system’s strengths and weaknesses, and proposing elegant solutions to drive new value to users. You’ll work across the many teams building new AI-based communication assistance to deliver a holistic, delightful experience.
In this role, you will:
- Dive deep into existing user research and experimental data, then develop a roadmap to deliver user value and develop state-of-the-art ML capabilities.
- Write product specs, think creatively about training data acquisition, design experiments, and drive execution to create new features and model improvements.
- Work closely with cross-functional partners to leverage our natural language understanding capabilities in novel, exciting ways.
- Understand our existing systems’ characteristics and identify opportunities for new features to solve user problems.
- Evangelize your team’s vision and build alignment for it across multiple product teams.
We’re looking for someone who
- Embodies our EAGER values—is ethical, adaptable, gritty, empathetic, and remarkable.
- Is able to collaborate in person in Berlin 3 weeks per quarter.
- Has developed sophisticated metrics to measure the success of complex systems.
- Can balance competing needs between technical foundations, user goals, and product constraints.
- Is curious to stay on top of the latest trends and technologies in ML.
- Is comfortable setting product direction—can take some initial ideas on where to start and set the roadmap.
- Has a solid technical background, with a computer science degree or relevant work experience.
