What you will do
The Data Platform team is responsible for building, developing and maintaining the tooling that supports Tractable in storing, accessing, transforming, analysing and visualsing data. As part of the Platform group, we focus on building high quality, self-service products that scale for both internal and external users. Our vision is to ‘enable Tractable and its customers to make every decision with confidence, without delay’. Data is at the core of what Tractable does, and a critical component of our continued success in building, refining and deploying visual AI solutions that help real people get their lives rapidly back to normal after disasters.
You will:
- Take ownership of one or more of the Data Platform products
- Build frameworks and tools that allow users to deploy their own low-latency data ingestion and transformation pipelines, and to access and visualise their data
- Have a track record of making big data feel small using frameworks like Spark
- Work closely with the team’s Product Manager and Engineering Manager to develop and deliver a roadmap, in collaboration with other team members, that aligns with the team’s and the organisation’s priorities.
- Help influence, define and develop Tractable’s organisational data strategy
- Drive adoption of Data Platform tooling across the organisation
- Hold the team to account for quality, leading by example in crafting user & developer documentation, testing, monitoring and alerting.
- Be an active participant in team agile routines, and help evolve & improve team ways of working.
What you need to be successful
- A self-starting bias, identifying things we can improve, features we can add, high value problems we can solve, and making the case for them to be prioritised
- Bring a pragmatic, customer-focussed and product-first mindset
- Distil & deliver a clear plan from complex requirements and ambiguous contexts
- A command of modern cloud data technologies and strategies. Familiarity with the AWS data stack, Airflow, dbt, Terraform and Tableau will be beneficial.
- Proficient in writing high-quality Python & SQL; familiar with common data modelling concepts
- Experience working with data scientists & researchers solving AI/ML problems, particularly in the image processing and visual recognition domain
- Experience of solving data governance problems (e.g. data deletion, anonymisation, access control)
