About The Role: 

TuSimple’s Autonomous Operations Group is searching for an Operations Supervisor to manage the second shift/evening shift/night shift and to ensure the day-to-day operations are conducted to normal operating specifications. This includes the hiring, coaching, training, monitoring performance, scheduling, payroll and managing workloads for both the Test Operations and the Fleet Operations at our Dallas Autonomous Operations location. 

What You’ll Do: 

  • Plan work schedules and assign duties to maintain adequate staff for effective performance of activities and response to fluctuating workloads.
  • Review work throughout the work process and at completion to ensure that it has been performed properly.
  • Evaluate employee performance and prepare performance appraisals.
  • Resolve personnel problems, complaints, or formal grievances when possible, with direct reports.
  • Recommend personnel actions, such as promotions, transfers, or disciplinary measures.
  • Assists in the hiring process by reviewing credentials, conducting interviews, or making hiring decisions or recommendations.
  • Counsel employees in work-related activities, personal growth, or career development.
  • Assess training needs of staff, conducting or arranging for worker training in safety, operational procedures, and equipment use.
  • Assist in the coordination of test scheduling with stakeholders, ensuring they are informed of logistical issues encountered prior, during or after trips.
  • Coordinate with the  Autonomous Operations Managers, Drivers and Test Engineers to prepare and maintain test records and reports of information such as disengagements, issues with test versions and unusual results during testing. 
  • Coordinate with the Fleet Safety Manager to prepare and maintain work records and reports of information such as employee time, safety metrics, daily mileage, or inspection results.
  • Monitor safety procedures and equipment, ensuring employees are conducting regular scheduled checks for safety and utilizing equipment and tools properly.
  • Oversee and assist in the coordination of drivers/loads with AOG stakeholders, ensuring they are informed of logistical issues encountered prior, during or after trips.
  • All Supervisors must successfully complete TuSimple’s  training and are required to maintain minimum on-truck time to perform audits and mentor their direct reports.

What You’ll Need:

  • Ability to work in the evening and at TuSimple’s Dallas Operations Location is required. 
  • At least 1 year of experience managing a team
  • At least 1 year of experience in logistics, transportation or related industry
  • At least 1 year of experience managing work schedules.
  • Strong leadership,  communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in resource allocation, employee relations techniques, leadership techniques, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.

 What Will Set You Apart:

  • Basic understanding of autonomous vehicles.
  • Basic understanding of commercial or heavy off highway vehicles.
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.
