Research Engineer in Embedded Systems and Safety

NIO is the leader in the intelligent Electronic Vehicle (EV) industry in China, which is the largest, fastest-growing EV market in the world, and is also rapidly expanding its business worldwide.  NIO is seeking research engineers for our Digital Cockpit team located in San Jose, California.You will research new technologies, and technologies used in other industries which can be applied to create the next immersive user experience.

Responsibilities

• Research, design, prototype, develop, and validate technologies and solutions for complex multi-processor and multi–Operating Systems embedded systems.
• Create state-of-the-art software architecture documents and diagrams.
• Communicate to others and advocate industry best practices in embedded software design and architecture.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or master’s degree with publication and research projects, in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Communication, and Electronics.
• 1-year experience in a relevant domain in industry or academia.
• Excellent knowledge of embedded software system architecture principles, software design patterns
• Experience with Embedded systems including CPU, DSP, GPU subsystems
• Experience or strong interest and knowledge in safety concepts, safety mechanisms applied to embedded systems
• Experience with C, C++, python

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience profiling and analyzing key metrics (MIPS/Memory/bandwidth) of the real-time embedded system.
• Excellent communication skills. Capable of explaining complex technical topics to non-technical audiences.
