Director, Machine Learning

WHAT YOU’LL DO
The Machine Learning Engineering team builds Viant's proprietary machine learning system that will disrupt the Ad Tech industry. We leverage advanced machine learning techniques to completely transform historically manual and complicated processes of creating, launching, and measuring digital ads into autonomous decision-making systems that efficiently handle hundreds of millions of events daily. This individual will lead a team of machine learning engineers to drive the next phase of growth for Viant. This individual will have direct end-to-end responsibility for developing and implementing significant and innovative models that are critical to the ongoing success of Viant. In addition, this role will report to SVP of Data and Machine Learning and interact with Executive Management.

THE DAY-TO-DAY

•  You will be responsible for developing and coaching our machine learning engineers, holding the team to high standards in engineering and quality practices, speed of delivery, architecture and design, and code quality.
• Apply supervised machine learning, observational causal inference modeling to understand substitution and content demand, incremental value measurement, and member and non-member preference analyses.
• Partner with Product, Finance and Content leadership to design actionable and insightful analyses to guide future personalization and content decisions.
• Drive innovation by developing new methodologies, statistical techniques, and causal-inference approaches that could sharpen our content decision-making process.
• Take ownership of stakeholder relationship and end-to-end delivery of actionable insights for decision-makers

GREAT TO HAVE

• 10+ years of experience, including 5+ years’ experience hiring and scaling  teams 
• Bachelor’s degree, with a strong academic record, in Computer Science or Engineering, Masters preferred
• Strong experience building and applying machine learning models for business applications
• Proven ability to implement, operate, and deliver results via innovation at large scale
• Fantastic problem solver; ability to solve problems that the world has not solved before
• Demonstrated track record of cultivating strong working relationships and driving collaboration across multiple technical and business teams
• Ad tech industry experience is a plus
