Data Analyst - Business Supply

We’re also the market-leading energy supplier of EV Charge Point Operators (CPOs) in the UK. We are turbo-charging the growth of low carbon transport through our charging propositions. We are on a rapid growth trajectory, with plans to radically disrupt the business energy and EV charging market for the better. 
This role presents a great opportunity for an aspiring data analyst with an interest in pricing and coding to support the commercial and business processes within Octopus Energy for Business. It’s also a fantastic opportunity to work on problems that genuinely move us closer to Net Zero with a company that is passionate about building great technology and products that change the way customers use energy. 

What you'll do

• Develop Python scripts to improve our commercial and business processes
• Lead on data queries of our Kraken database to support customer management and communications 
• Build reporting dashboards for strategically important OEB customers (e.g. EV charge point operators)
• Contribute to our pricing and product strategy and work on exciting new smart energy tariffs for businesses
• Keep on top of changes in industry costs relating to business energy and provide regulatory and policy support on those issues
• Perform competitor and market analysis 
• Support pricing and margin tracking for Octopus Energy’s business tariffs
• Build and maintain pricing and operational dashboards 

What you'll need

• We don’t need prior energy supplier experience (we can teach that). We’re looking for someone with the below qualities:
• A passion for energy and contributing to the energy transition
• Curiosity and self drive - when faced with a new problem is capable of seeking out an answer
• Strong data literacy and numeracy - can make sense of lots of data and shape it into a coherent story
• Great attention to detail
• An ability to communicate complex ideas clearly
• Experience with some of the below technologies:
• A scripting language (ideally Python) 
• Wrangling data outside of a spreadsheet environment
• Writing performant queries in SQL
• Building reports and dashboards in a BI tool (ideally Tableau)
