We are looking for an analytics professional to help drive the success of product efforts at Etsy by providing concrete insights, industry-leading measurement techniques, and access to the metrics, data, and tools needed for decision-making and optimization.

As a Data Scientist, you will be responsible for:

  • Applying advanced analytical techniques to break down product and business questions into actionable insights that drive the next stage of growth for our users.

  • Analyzing online experiments to help improve and personalize the buyer experience.

  • Identifying drivers of relevance that contribute to engagement with recommendations, and surfacing inefficiencies that could help unlock improvements to our models.

Do you find joy in guiding strategy with data-driven insights, telling the story of how we improve the experience for our users, to teams, to senior management, and to the community.? If so, this could be the perfect match!

This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Manager, Product Analytics and the base salary range will be 104,000 - 136,000 USD per year. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy. This role requires your presence in Etsy’s Brooklyn’s office in an in-person or flex capacity. Learn more about our Flex and Office-based work modes as well as vaccination policy here.

We partner with cross-functional peers through all stages of development: identifying initial opportunities, refining the user experience, analyzing the impact of our efforts, and highlighting improvement areas. Ultimately, the team’s work strengthens Etsy and helps continuously improve the Etsy experience!

  • In this position, you would partner closely with our Recommendations team, whose focus is building machine learning models that enable relevant and personalized shopping experiences.

What does the day-to-day look like?

  • Transforming raw data into impactful analysis characterized by strong data governance/documentation, rigorous techniques, and actionable recommendations.

  • Partnering with product, engineering, design teams; using behavioral and transactional data to shed light on our users and our product experience, identifying areas for improvement, and driving decision-making.

  • Identifying impactful metrics to understand the performance of products, developing reporting dashboards to track progress, and ingraining these metrics into teams’ day-to-day decision-making.

  • Leading experimentation, helping teams set strong hypotheses, and delivering robust analysis of experiment results.

  • Continually evaluating and refining your technical toolkit; teaching what you learn to the team.

  • Of course, this is just a sample of the kinds of work this role will require! You should assume that your role will encompass other tasks, too, and that your job duties and responsibilities may change from time to time at Etsy's discretion, or otherwise applicable with local law.
