Turquoise Health
About Us
At Turquoise Health, we're making healthcare pricing simpler, more transparent, and lower cost for everyone. Have you or a family member ever gotten an MRI, a lab, or even a straightforward surgery without knowing the cost in advance? That's bonkers, right? We're working to fix that.
We’ve already launched our consumer-facing website that allows anyone to search and compare hospital insurance rates; something once impossible. Now, we're rolling out a suite of new products for providers, payers, employers, and patients to clean up the healthcare transaction. We want to change how the industry works from the inside out.
We're a Series A startup backed by top VCs a16z, Box Group, Bessemer Venture Partners, and Tiger Global. Most importantly, we're a multi-talented group of folks (moonlighting as authors, bass players, improv instructors, chefs, linguists, and trivia buffs) with a passion for improving healthcare. We're eager to find ambitious and well-rounded teammates to join us on this mission.
The Role
As a Data Strategy Lead you will become a trusted advisor to payers and providers on all things healthcare pricing data. As an expert in our Hospital Rates Database and Payer Rates Data Warehouse, you will help customers derive value to power negotiations and patient pricing strategies. You’ll work to create happy data customers, expand product adoption, and inform our data product roadmap.
You should be innovative, analytical, and resourceful, with the ability to tackle unique problems quickly. You will support projects across multiple clients, so you must be someone who can manage your time efficiently across multiple projects. This role is a mixture of technical data work in SQL (bonus for proficiency in python or R), healthcare subject matter expertise, and building strong customer relationships. As a result, the role will focus on driving active usage as a post-sales measurement of success.
Responsibilities
- Partner with customers to understand their data and reporting requirements and translate them to engineering team
- Create and participate in customer education through various channels (email, blog, webinar)
- Provide comprehensive day-to-day analytics support to customers, develop tools and resources to empower data access and self-service so your expertise can be scaled
- Perform ad hoc analysis, insight requests, and data extractions to resolve critical business and infrastructure issues for our customers
- Assist customers with migrating our data to their platforms and tools (often, into a local environment that differs quite a bit from ours)
- Work closely with the product team to ensure customer feedback drives product development
- Work closely with technical partners on our data engineering team on designing and developing robust data structures and highly reliable data pipelines
- Actively solicit and prioritizing technical feedback via customer engagement
Requirements
- Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills - an equal desire to work with customers and see them succeed vs. to spend self-directed time with data
- 3+ years of analytics experience in SQL + a popular data visualization stack (Tableau, PowerBI, Looker, or others)
- 3+ years experience working in healthcare data (revenue cycle/claims, patient access, quality data, or interoperability, as examples)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, mathematical, and creative thinking skills
- Strong technical intuition and ability to understand complex business systems
- Expert knowledge in data modeling concepts and implementation
- Fluency in Excel (no matter what, it always comes in handy)
- Hands on experience in processing extremely large data sets
- Expertise in visualization technologies including Looker, Tableau, and others
- Desire to work in a fast-paced, data-intensive environment
Benefits
- Stellar Health Care Plan options (Medical, Dental & Vision)
- Unlimited Paid Time Off
- 401K + Matching
- Family Leave (Maternity, Paternity)
- Work From Home + Paid Remote Co-working Weeks
- Stock Option Plan
- Monthly Wellness Benefit
- Annual Learning & Development Benefit
- Company-provided equipment (Laptop, Mouse, Keyboard, Monitor)
