The Data Science & Engineering team is central to Lacework, and collaborates across multiple domains to ship value through data analysis and modeling. Our work contributes directly to delivering the core data-driven products and features that Lacework offers to its customers, as well as improving and optimizing the technologies and processes that the company relies upon.

The Role: We are looking for a Data Scientist Intern to join our Data Science & Engineering team. This is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for executing on projects with tangible deliverables for the company and to our customers. You will be expected to:

  • Employ languages and tools like SQL, Python, R, and/or others to perform efficient data exploration and modeling, and deploy those solutions in production.
  • Build actionable insights and models to help drive critical decisions and improve our products.
  • In partnership with engineering, product and business teams, build roadmaps & goals and execute against them while balancing speed, accuracy and precision.
  • Build strong cross functional partnerships.
  • Demonstrate good communication skills and present work to peers and leadership.
  • Strive to use general and scalable methodologies and tools; stay current with the latest tools and techniques.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a degree in quantitative field (e.g. Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Economics, or other related fields).
  • Experience doing quantitative analysis including experience with SQL, other programming languages (e.g, Python) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g, R, SAS, MATLAB).
  • Experience with statistical methods such as forecasting, time series analysis, experimentation, hypothesis testing, classification, clustering, anomaly detection, regression analysis and/or others.
  • Experience developing data pipelines, building dashboard, and deploying machine learning models.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity, drive projects / analyses to conclusion with limited supervision and communicate analysis in a clear, concise and actionable manner.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in a quantitative field.
  • Experience with cloud platforms like Snowflake, AWS, GCP, etc.
  • Experience in Cloud Security or Infrastructure Security.
