Job Description

About the Role: Actively involved in the conceptional and technical implementation of platform-based services and applications within the U+P business line in AECOM ME.

  • Work closely with Director – Urbanism +Planning to grow AECOM ME’s capabilities in incorporating urban data analytics and other related technologies in existing workflows of project delivery
  • Develop mathematical and statistical models to analyse data in a data science context, which can be applied to urban planning & design projects
  • Interpret data and report conclusions from conducted analysis to support the statistical evaluations, which can help support and improve decision-making for urban planning & design projects
  • Condense and encapsulate data characteristics, making it easier to identify risks, analyse trends, and drive effective decision-making, present findings and data insights in creative ways to facilitate the understanding of data across a range of technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Generate data visualisation, reports, converts or transfers data using GIS software and scripting languages.
  • Have a strong base in platform design process and execution, including a speciality in statistical analysis and interpretation of data  Interest in planning and policy research and the ability to blend qualitative and quantitative analyses to provide support for the use of existing statistical research methods and tools and configure these methods within a known context
  • Review urban growth models and code create a parametric urban design to create an advanced urban simulation
  • Contribute to the design of databases or development of geodatabases and systems, as well as compile and analyses GIS data
  • Excellent recordkeeping, as well as written, graphical, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to stay organised while balancing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Advanced ability to recommend and implement technical recommendations for cross-functional business development
  • Technical/ Functional Competencies: Data Science and Analysis Capabilities Software Programming Data Visualization Urban Design and Planning thinking
  • Software: ArcGIS/ QGIS, Power BI, Alteryx, Tableau, Rhino/ Grasshopper, Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), Microsoft Excel (Advanced)Programming Languages: Python, JavaScript, HTML, Ruby, R Programming, SQL and be ready to adapt to new ones

Qualifications

  • A minimum of six years of experience in either public sector or private, ideally in the field of urban design and planning in applied
  • Experience in three or more of the following areas (required):Spatial Analysis using ArcGIS or QGISData Visualization
  • Understanding of FIWARECommand of Software Architecture (Micro Service Architecture, APIS, OGC Services etc.)Generative Massing & Simulation Analysis
  • Experience working with urban tech service providers, IoT devices, or application development technology alliances is advantageous
  • Experience in collaborating with clients, internal teams, and engineering disciplines on high-profile international urban development projects
  • Prior experience in successfully managing a small team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: A Master’s degree, preferably in Spatial Data Science/ Geoinformatics, Urban Planning/ Spatial Developmental Studies or another relevant field, or compensating experience in appropriate, technical fields with a background in Urban Planning or Design
