The Sr. Systems Research Engineer will join a team of experts in researching and developing innovative solutions that utilize existing and emerging technologies to add substantial value to Samsung. The team covers a broad spectrum of topics and is building an ecosystem surrounding efficient utilization of next-generation Samsung SSDs, NVRAM and memory. You will be working with the-state-of-art technologies in the context of vertical integration and optimization across H/W and S/W. The candidate must be able to thrive in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary environment and lead independent research in the focus area.

Location: Onsite at our San Jose or Folsom location 5 days a week

• Conduct key research and development activities to extend the state-of-the-art systems research, to aid the design and development of emerging systems via modeling and/or simulation.

•  

  Create key IPs, implement prototypes, write or publish papers, and do standardization.

   

   

• Work with other hardware/software architects to invent new and refine existing algorithms for future products, and contribute to feasibility studies.

   

• Collaborate with universities and international teams.

What You Bring

• PhD or MS and/or 5+ years experience in Computer Science or Computer Engineering (More experienced candidates will also be considered at relevant levels).
• Deep knowledge and expertise in systems design and architecture.
• Hands-on experience and skill in systems modeling and simulation platforms.
• Must be highly motivated with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Prior functional and/or performance model or modelling infrastructure development experience.
• Expertise in 1 or more system-level or microarchitecture-level simulators such as SST, Gem5, QEMU.
• Good understanding of computer architecture and micro-architecture fundamentals.
• Good analytical abilities and problem solving skills.
• Prior experience writing benchmarks and analyzing performance.
• Prior experience in multi-threaded programming, profiling and bottleneck analysis.
