The electricity market is now undergoing major changes, including increased digitalisation and transformation from centralised to decentralised energy solutions. Today’s current events in the world are also heavily affecting the energy market and rapidly increases the need for more fossil free energy generation. Vattenfall, among many others, is working intensely with different initiatives to create a long-term sustainable electricity- and energy market.

Your role 
The main focus of this position is to work with complex business challenges, produce insights from data and find solutions using different data models. For instance, you might use a machine learning model using large amounts of data or produce a forecast (from now-casting to long-term forecasting). Apart from working with different models, you will also participate in implementing these models into the daily operations for different businesses. 

You will use statistics and data science as tools for understanding and interpreting the data, build models and optimise procedures linked to a variety of operations in Vattenfall. Since the role has a close connection with other disciplines in Vattenfall, you will be tasked with explaining how complex models are contributing to the business in a valuable way therefore, effective communication skills are highly appreciated.

We have a close connection with the Research and Development department at Vattenfall, where a growing part is targeted towards data science and AI, as well as statistics. You will be part of a specialised team within a development area in the Research and Development department in Vattenfall.
 

Qualifications

•    An academic degree with relevancy to quantitative methods (e.g. statistics, data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, econometrics or similar)
•    One or two years of experience working with similar tasks is beneficial (but not required)
•    Strong communications skills, both orally and written, preferably in both Swedish and English
•    Experience working agile and in teams


Your technological skills include the following:

•    You are experienced (or even advanced) in working with Python, alternatively R.
•    You have no issues working with very large volumes of information/data
•    You have good knowledge of statistics and advanced statistical methods
•    You have good knowledge of machine learning and how it can be applied on real topics within Vattenfall’s different business areas

You are a driven and solution oriented team player, who is passionate about understanding and solving problems and appreciates working towards deliverables. You can collaborate well with others, and can easily add new contacts to your network. You are able to organise and prioritise your work, and can work with several projects at the same time. We value engagement, participation, responsibility, openness and taking initiative.
