Job Description

Rapid growth of Al on the edge devices has driven the research and development of energy efficient and low latency in-memory compute (IMC) to address the limitation of the von-Neumann-computing-paradigm. lmplementing arrays of emerging non-volatile memories at the base of our IMC-IP allows us to compute Al algorithms in a highly parallel manner with an efficiency improvement of 2-3 orders of magnitude. At Bosch, in a cooperation between corporate research and the business units, we are bringing these advancements into the product.

  • You will be part of a young, dynamic team of research engineers. We bring next-generation Al for automated driving onto the embedded hardware.
  • As a research engineer you will draft a system architecture using RISC-V custom instructions to interface with an IMC accelerator at our Corporate Research campus in Renningen.
  • The development of a strategy to map the product's neutral network onto the hardware leveraging the unique abilities of IMC will be one of your tasks.
  • Our implementations will be benchmarked by you and you make sure that we are defining the new state-of-the-art for power efficient embedded AI.
  • Within your responsibility you will have the opportunity of hands-on testing on a silicon prototype.
  • You will present and discuss the progress of our work with our external research partners. Therefore you identify and select the appropriate storage technology together with internal and external development partners.
  • The preparation of project proposals and project planning will be supported by you.

Qualifications

  • Education: completed Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, lnformatics, Computer Engineering or Physics
  • Personality and Working Practice: assertive, team oriented, curious, goal-oriented personality and structured, communicative
  • Experience and Knowledge: deep knowledge in VHDL and computer architecture, preferably experience with RISC, V instruction sets and Al for embedded hardware, a basic background of memory architecture, NVM bit cells and video processing would be of help
  • Enthusiasm: passionate about embedded systems and want to shape the future of Bosch by designing real life products, ability to involve and to convince internal potential sponsors
  • Languages: excellent command of spoken and written English and German
