As a result of our rapid growth, we are looking for an experienced & highly motivated data professional to manage and oversee the development of Data Products through data science and analytics and with the industry in mind. Able to translate real-life challenges in the day-to-day operations of maritime professionals into actionable solutions in line with product managers within a dedicated business unit. Directly involved in delivering value while ensuring efficient data projects' design, prioritisation and delivery. In a position to effectively communicate with data and business stakeholders to foster development workflows and maximise the generated value from MarineTraffic data through novel techniques and tools to accelerate innovation, data products delivery, and revenue creation.


Typical Tasks, Activities & Accountabilities

Active overview of data projects. Defines success criteria, designs and implements models/workflows/pipelines for the wider team of data practitioners within a dedicated business unit.

Experienced with agile methodologies and able to effectively drive projects' breakdown and delivery.

Keeping a close eye on the quality of all intermediate deliverables and code in a hands-on fashion.

An active link between multiple stakeholders within and outside the company to build data-driven outputs and able to translate business and market requirements into data products working in close liaison with Product Managers.

Identifies team goals and evaluates the progress of data practitioners, coordinates efforts and activities to keep team members focused and on track according to the business unit roadmap, supports and motivates team members.

Aims to foster knowledge exchange through feedback loops, well-documented and observable projects with adherence to common workflows and internal project management tools.

Contributes to boosting collaboration among Data practitioners when it comes to productionising Data Science and Analytics projects.

Sets and pursues Objectives and KPIs for the team on multiple levels taking business priorities into account.

Requirements

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in quantitative fields such as Engineering, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Operational Research
  • Strong product-oriented mindset; thinking up several ways to translate business requests into incremental Data Science and Analytics solutions evaluating their real-world applicability & business value in the process
  • Proven industrial experience in designing & delivering end-to-end, cross-functional Data solutions (model design, prototyping, evaluation, productionisation as a Data pipeline, and continuous monitoring & improvement)
  • Strong organisational & planning skills; proven experience in technical project management which involves breaking down data projects into execution tasks, stories, and roadmaps and ensuring their continuous support & successful delivery
  • Experience in supervising/managing the work of data practitioners covering the end-to-end lifecycle of data deliverables, supporting and growing people.
  • Solid understanding of probability and statistics (distributions, point/interval estimation, hypothesis testing)
  • Excellent understanding of fundamental Analytics and Machine Learning methodologies
  • Solid SQL and Python programming skills, data visualisation/dashboarding tools
  • Excellent communication skills; conveying ideas efficiently to people coming from different backgrounds
  • Ability to take initiative and act under minimal supervision
  • A growth mindset and a strong team mentality

Desired

  • Experience working with geospatial and spatiotemporal time-series data
  • A track record of dealing with big amounts of data and generating insights
  • Previous exposure to the Maritime domain
  • Understanding of digital business models and SaaS metrics
