Senior Software Engineer, Simulation Applied ML (Smart Agents)

About the Role

Simulation is at the core of autonomy safety validation and software iteration. Autonomy engineers use simulation to improve their algorithms, and our Safety team uses simulation to validate our autonomy software for real-world deployment.

In this role, you will work closely with other core Autonomy teams, ML researchers, and Infrastructure engineers, and be responsible for developing, improving and maintaining ML-based smart agents that are used to test the Nuro robot in simulation workflows. This highly impactful role will increase our ability to effectively test and improve the Nuro robot.

About the Work

• Understand ML pipelines (data preparation, testing, infrastructure)
• Hands-on experience in transferring research models into production (preferably TensorFlow)
• Experience with Python and C++
• Reasonable understanding of ML concepts: Supervised learning, time series
• Rudimentary understanding of robotic systems

About You

• 4+ years of experience working in the software industry or related experience OR 2+ years with a PhD. 
• Understand ML pipelines (data preparation, testing, infrastructure)
• Hands-on experience in transferring research models into production (preferably TensorFlow)
• 3+ years of experience with C++ and Python
• Basic understanding of ML concepts: Supervised learning, time series

Bonus Points

• Experience training larger production models (e.g.,  Multi-GPU)
• Experience with ML-based planner-predictor interfaces, simulation workflows, and safety and validation applications.
