About The Role:

Neo Financial has an opportunity for a Senior Data Developer to join our team in Calgary, AB.

We believe that data is our competitive advantage. As Senior Data Developer, you’ll play a pivotal role in setting the technical direction for Neo’s data platform while growing and developing an all-star team of engineers. You are curious about all things Neo, passionate about developing others and creating a culture of excellence and have the ability to build consensus around your vision for how data can be used to build better financial services for all Canadians coast-to-coast. Responsibilities will include coaching & mentoring junior team members, instilling a high-performance dev culture, advancing Neo’s Data & Analytics roadmap and jumping in to get your hands dirty when necessary.

We use a cloud based modern data architecture in our everyday work, but we believe that a good data engineer can learn any tech stack.

What you'll be doing:

• Contribute to Neo’s data platform: from ingestion through to our product, analytics practice and our partners.
• Set the pace and set the bar as one of our best hands-on data engineers
• Work with product management and analytics teams to take new ideas to production
• Help plan and evolve our cutting-edge architecture following best-in-industry patterns
• Own the technology, code, deliverables, and milestones for major development projects
• Be the voice for concerns like scalability, performance, security, and maintainability
• Lead standup meetings, retrospectives, code reviews, design reviews, or technical reviews of product stories
• Champion engineering best practices within the team and Neo’s engineering community at large

Who we are looking for:

• At least 5 years of experience building and operating data pipelines in a production environment
• Knowledge of the current tech ecosystem, state of the art trends and announcements, etc
• Experience leading development teams or major software development projects
• Strong knowledge of our tech stack (or similar technologies); show excitement to learn our stack
• Comfort working with cloud-based infrastructure such as Amazon AWS (or similar)
• Social involvement and proven ability to interview, engage developers in the community, and above all else, motivate and connect with others
• Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada and willing to relocate
