Data Engineer Intern

San Diego, CA or Remote 

The San Diego Studio Data Analytics team uses in game telemetry data to better understand the users who play our games, and provide insights and analysis of gameplay and user behavior. These insights allow stakeholders to make informed decisions related to user experiences, game health, and profitability. This role will ensure necessary data is being recorded, validate and maintain a large data pipeline, mine large quantities of data, and build new data infrastructures as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop highly efficient systems to retrieve, maintain and analyze in game and customer data
  • Help scale and maintain AWS infrastructure to account for growing volume of data
  • Work with Data Scientists to automate and optimize code to production quality
  • Perform ETL tasks and maintenance
  • Maintain and test data integrity to ensure accuracy and timeliness

Qualifications:

  • Rising senior, projected to graduate by Spring 2024
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited university, pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, Ph.D., JD, or MBA degree
  • Solid grasp of Python programming
  • Experience querying large, robust data sets with SQL
  • Big Data Experience working in AWS (ex: Glue, S3, Athena) or Azure
  • Experience working with data pipelines from multiple data sources
  • Experience with query optimization, version control, code reviews, and documentation
  • Professional level interpersonal and communication skill (email, phone, face to face)
  • Ability to turn difficult and complex problems into elegant and efficient solutions
